Vision Statement

The N Aging and Care Initiative envisions a future where Chinese people in later years, especially during the end of their lives, are embraced and cared for with dignity and compassion. We strive to create a society that recognizes the inherent worth of every aging individual, fostering an environment where care is a deeply cherished and respected value, providing a nurturing nest for all.

Mission Statement

Rooted in the social realities of China, our team of interdisciplinary researchers at the NACI aims to be:

• Boundary Pushers, who challenge the prevailing status quo that fails to ensure dignity, equity, and compassion in care.
• Relationship Enablers, who empower caregivers (both informal and formal), nurturing their ability to embody the most loving and compassionate aspects of themselves while engaging in caregiving and care receiving relationships, creating nests of comfort and support.
• Solution Seekers, who think creatively and collaboratively to not only identify but also address the most difficult challenges in diverse caregiving situations.
• System Optimizers, who view care as a complex system that necessitates collaboration and cooperation among a wide range of actors and strive to foster a holistic and integrated approach to caregiving that encompasses physical, emotional, and social well-being for all aging individuals in need of care.

Combining our diverse expertise, unwavering dedication, and passion for change, we aspire to reshape the landscape of aging and care in China and create a future where compassion and dignity are at its very core, contributing to the global cause of fostering inclusive and sustainable caregiving practices that enhance the well-being and quality of life for all aging individuals.
