  • CSCC Journalist (Multiple positions open; applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until positions filled)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center for the Study of Contemporary China is looking for student journalists who are interested in writing and reporting about topics related China studies. The CSCC regularly invites renowned scholars from China and overseas to give talks, and organize a multiple of events including conferences, workshops, screening salons, student research poster exhibitions, etc. You will be covering various events and lectures organized by the center and have your write-ups featured on the CSCC website.

This is a great chance to spice up your CV and gain valuable writing experience.

Expected Working Hours:

Maximum: 40 hours per month.

  • Excellent English writing and editing skills
  • Organized, capable of working independently and reliably throughout the term
  • Strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to collaborate and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work any shift

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center for the Study of Contemporary China is looking for student assistants to perform various administrative tasks, which includes:

Event organization and management

  • Assist with workshops, conferences, and all kinds of events, as needed;
  • Maintain the CSCC online presence (e.g., website, Engage, WeChat);
  • Advertise events and activities effectively among students via social media channels using clear, concise, and compelling language and understand how to best grab students’ attention;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Graphic Design

  • Design posters for the center’s events;

Photo/Video-taking

  • Be able to take good-quality photos/videos of the center’s events for news reports;
  • Perform retouching and image adjustments after shoots;

Expected Working Hours:

Maximum: 40 hours per month.

On-campus office hours required: minimum 1.5 hours per month

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to details and a fast learner
  • Have a strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to resolve complex administrative problems independently
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate event schedule
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
