Wuhan University (WHU) and Duke Kunshan University (DKU) are calling for proposals for 2025 WHU-DKU Joint Program (for Academic Year 25/26). Please find attached CFP in this email for details.

Budget Total:

• The funding support from the DKU side is up to 50,000 RMB per project. Sponsored by DKU Foundation Hou Tu Research Fund (HTR Fund).

What to fund:

• Art History, Philosophy, Anthropology, Archaeology, Global Health, Sustainable Development, and Environmental Science

Project Period: The research project duration for this project will be 18 months (extension is not allowed) from June 8, 2025 – December 7, 2026.

Project Requirements:

• Each project must involve one faculty member from DKU as the PI and one faculty member from WHU as the co-PI. 
• It is encouraged to involve additional faculty members from DKU and/or WHU to join the project as co-PIs.
• Upon project completion, a final report must be submitted as the closing documentation and acceptance deliverable for project closure.
• The funding must be spent at DKU only and cannot be transferred to other entities including WHU. Sub-contracts between DKU and third parties are not allowed.
• All proposals are encouraged to involve DKU undergraduate students in their proposed work.

Eligibility:

• Any regular faculty member with a full-time or primary appointment at DKU is eligible to apply for this grant.
• Each faculty member can only submit one proposal as the PI, co-PI or other participants each year.
• Each faculty member can only have one on-going project funded by the HTR fund.
• PIs with ongoing projects under the WHU Seeding Fund are not eligible to apply to this CFP.
• All proposals will be submitted separately to WHU and DKU, and undergo independent reviews conducted by each institution.

• Please use the attached template to prepare your proposal in English.
• Please compile your full proposal and all supporting documents as a SINGLE PDF file and email the PDF document to research-support@dukekunshan.edu.cn with the subject line of “Proposal for WHU-DKU Joint Project Funding”.

Language: English for DKU applicants.
