The purpose of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is to review proposals from DKU faculty members who wish to conduct research on animal subjects, to ensure that the animals will be treated in a way that is humane, ethical and in compliance with United States, Department of Health (USDH) guidelines.

The council’s views are transmitted, along with the administration’s proposals, to the trustees when the board considers the plans and decisions.
