Lim Chee Wah is a corporate leader, community builder, and investor with more than four decades of experience. His work focuses on long-term development, institution building, and projects that deliver lasting economic and social impact.
This approach is evident in the development of Yunding Secret Garden in Chongli, Hebei Province. Long before winter sports gained national prominence in China, Lim recognised Chongli’s natural suitability and long-term potential. The project helped transform Chongli from a rural farming town into a leading national and international winter sports and tourism destination. It generated large-scale local employment and supported major infrastructure development and regional growth. Genting Snow Park, part of Yunding Secret Garden, served as an official competition venue for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Driven by his conviction in the future of winter sports in China, Lim contributed to China’s successful bid for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. He served as the only foreign member of the Bid Committee. During the Games, Genting Snow Park hosted multiple marquee events, including Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Parallel Giant Slalom, Snowboard Cross, Aerials, and Moguls. The successful delivery of these events demonstrated the site’s international standards and operational capability.
Earlier in his career, Lim played a key role in the expansion, diversification, and corporate structuring of Genting Berhad. He helped guide its evolution from a family business into a diversified conglomerate. He was involved in establishing the plantation and property divisions. He also took a leading role in Genting’s early international expansion through Genting International Ltd. As part of the corporate reorganisation team, he was involved in the establishment of Resorts World Berhad, which consolidated the Genting Highlands assets.
Lim led extensive land acquisition efforts that significantly expanded the Group’s land bank, particularly within the plantation business. Genting Plantations was listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1982. The business continued to grow and perform strongly thereafter. This reflected the durability of the foundations laid during its formative years.
