Dr. Henry Huiyao Wang is Founder and President of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), Former Counselor to China State Council appointed by Chinese Premier. In addition, he is a former Vice Chairman of China Association for International Economic Cooperation (CAIEC) under the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), former Vice Chairman, China Talent Research Society under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. He is also a former Vice Chairman of China Public Relations Association; currently he is Standing Director of China Institute of International Economic Relations under PBOC, and a Director of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and a Director of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, both organizations under the supervision of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Wang is a Steering Committee Member of Paris Peace Forum and Metropolis International and was an Advising Board Member for International Organization of Migration (IOM) of the UN. He is a Distinguished Professor of China Foreign Affairs University and sits on the Advising Board of Richard Ivey Business School of Canada, Advisory Committee for Global Competence Development of Tsinghua University. He was the former Dean of the Institute of Development at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China.
Prior to founding CCG, Wang worked in both the public and private sectors at home and abroad. He was a former official at the then Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), and later served as Chief Trade Representative for the Canadian Quebec Government Office in Hong Kong and Greater China, Managing Director of Asia at SNC-Lavalin, and Vice President at AMEC-AGRA in Canada.
Dr. Wang pursued his PhD degree at University of Western Ontario and University of Manchester. He was a Visiting Fellow at The Brookings Institution, a Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and a Senior Fellow at Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada. He has taught at Peking University, Tsinghua University and the University of Western Ontario as an adjunct professor. He has published over 100 books in English and Chinese along with hundreds of journal articles and opinion pieces on international relations, global governance, global migration, China outbound and inbound investment and trade, Chinese Diasporas and Chinese think tanks etc.. He is the Chief Editor of 12 Springer Nature Series books China and Globalization and his other books,Escape the Thucydides Trap in Dialogue with Graham Allison on US-China Relations (Palgrave 2023); The Globalization of Chinese Enterprises: Trends and Characteristics (Springer, 2020); Handbook on China and Globalization (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2019).
Dr. Wang is a frequent speaker at international events such as the World Economic Forum, Munich Security Conference, Paris Peace Forum, WTO Public Forum, Global Solutions Summit, Athens Democracy Forum, Munk Debate, Berlin Foreign Policy Forum, and Milken Global Forum.
